It’s estimated that 1.6 million Canadians live with COPD, a slowly progressive respiratory disease that causes the airways of the lungs to be inflamed and become obstructed or blocked.
People aren’t fully aware of the impact of COPD. For instance, regarding mortality, it’s either
the fourth or fifth leading cause of death in Canada. Globally, the incidence of COPD deaths is twice as high as it is from lung cancer.
