HPV refers to the human papillomavirus. HPV is a common virus and there is a great chance most adults will have exposure to the virus throughout their lifetime.1 While most people clear the virus on their own, unfortunately for others, it can be an unrelenting virus causing life threatening diseases such as genital warts in women and men, cervical, vulvar, and vaginal cancer in women as well as anal and penile cancer in men.
